On Friday, March 28, 2025, something truly powerful unfolded in Wailuku.
Wāhine Kaulike brought together hearts, hands, and voices to honor 11 extraordinary wāhine—mentors, leaders, business owners, and community visionaries—whose strength and spirit continue to shape the future of Maui.

This year, What Makes You Feel Beautiful was honored to present the Honor of Distinction to Mahina Martin, Director, Public Affairs, City of Maui —a woman whose leadership, grace, and steadfast service have left an indelible mark on our island. Her story, impact, and the deep aloha she brings to every space were rightfully celebrated under the glow of love and reverence.

The evening was held in sacredness and celebration. It opened and closed in oli, led by our Board Vice President, Primrose Lehualani Harris, grounding the evening in culture and intention. We were blessed by the presence of Mayor Richard Bissen, who spoke from the heart and honored each wāhine with warmth, respect, and genuine aloha.
Returning as our keynote speaker was last year’s honoree, Captain Kekai Brown, whose trademark authenticity, humor, and wisdom reminded us why her voice continues to guide and uplift our community.

And what a gift to experience the golden voice of Sheryl Renee, who lit up the room with music and a soul-stirring reminder: everyone deserves a seat at the table.
Representing the future of our island was our youngest speaker, Madelyn Moats, whose confidence and clarity lit a spark of hope in every heart. She reminded us that the next generation of wāhine is not only rising—but ready.
🌿 The spirit of community made the evening even more beautiful. Pupus, meals, and desserts were lovingly prepared and brought by volunteers, aunties, and friends—nourishing every part of the evening, body and soul. From the handmade leis to the intentionally decorated tables, every detail was a reflection of care, culture, and connection.
✨ Wāhine Kaulike is more than an event—it is a movement.A call to honor the balance, wisdom, and love that women bring to our world. It is a celebration of what becomes possible when we rise together.
Mahalo nui loa to every person who gave, served, attended, or simply stood in the sacred energy of support. You helped create something unforgettable.
