As we step into Women's History Month, it's a time to reflect on the incredible journey of women throughout history and the remarkable resilience they have shown. Here in Maui, the spirit of our women is as vibrant and enduring as the lush landscapes that surround us. At What Makes You Feel Beautiful (WMYFB), we are dedicated to uplifting and empowering women, recognizing their beauty, strength, and grace.
This month, we pay tribute to the women who have shaped our lives and our communities. We think of the mothers, grandmothers, sisters, friends, and mentors who have loved us, cared for us, uplifted us, and paved the way for us. Their sacrifices and achievements have woven the fabric of our society, making it richer and more diverse.
As we honor their legacy, we also celebrate the resilience of the women on Maui. From navigating the challenges of life to making significant contributions in various fields, their strength and determination continue to inspire us. They embody the true essence of beauty, one that shines from within and radiates outward, touching the lives of those around them.
International Women's Day on March 8th is a special occasion to recognize and appreciate the women in our lives and around the world. This year, WMYFB is hosting an event titled "Celebrating Strength in Grace: The Enduring Spirit of Maui's Women" at Unity on Maui, Wailuku. We are thrilled to have Mayor Richard Bissen as our keynote speaker and to pay a special tribute to Captain Chantelle Pamalia Nani o Kekai Brown, the State's first female Captain for Ocean Safety. Her achievements and leadership serve as an inspiration to us all.
Join us for an evening of celebration, featuring traditional lei greetings, music by local female artist Tanama Colibri, mini-documentary, and an honoring ceremony. It's an opportunity to connect, share stories, and celebrate the incredible women who have made a difference in our lives.
As we move forward, let us carry the spirit of resilience and beauty that defines the women of Maui. Let us continue to support, empower, and uplift one another, creating a brighter future for all.
We look forward to seeing you on March 8th as we come together to celebrate International Women's Day and honor the remarkable women in our lives and our community.
