Last Friday June , 2024, the Maui GEMS program hosted a memorable event that brought together mentor guardians, interns, and parents for an evening of connection, celebration, and inspiration. The gathering marked a significant milestone in the program's journey and provided a platform for building strong relationships among the participants.
The core values of the Maui GEMS program are growth, empowerment, mentorship, and support. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation, as the program is set to start its internship throughout June and July.
One of the highlights of the evening was the formal announcement of our dedicated interns who have been paired with their mentors and guardians. The Board Treasurer also announced the stipend each youth will receive, adding to the enthusiasm.
It was also our first picture day. Photographs were taken of mentors and their mentees, capturing the beginning of these invaluable partnerships. The images will serve as cherished memories and reminders of the commitment and support that the Maui GEMS program provides to young girls in our community.
The program also introduced its new intern, Maui GEMS Coordinator Gabriella Rodriguez, whose position is to facilitate the weekly workshops, build local community connections, support the mentors, and ensure that the program runs smoothly.
We also recorded a thank you and testimonials video for the JD Finish Line Foundation, who supports What Makes You Feel Beautiful’s Maui GEMS program.
As the evening concluded, there was a palpable sense of excitement and optimism in the air. The Maui GEMS program is not just about academic and professional development; it is about creating a supportive community where young girls can thrive, grow, and achieve their full potential.
We are grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event. We are especially grateful to the parents who are actively involved in the program. Your presence and support are invaluable as we continue to empower the next generation of leaders through the Maui GEMS program.
We look forward to the continued journey and the many milestones we will celebrate together in the future.
